Halong Tour One Day

Halong Tour One Day

Up early for 8am pick-up for the tour of Halong Bay. After 3 hours on the bus from Hanoi we arrived at Halong City port where our boat (plus many others!) was waiting. Halong Bay comprises over 3000 islands in the Gulf of Tonkin and is a Unesco World Heritage site. Featured on the BBC's 'Planet Earth', this is one place we've been looking forward to visiting for a long time! After boarding our 'junk' (traditional boat) we motored out into Halong Bay passing loads of small limestone

Heaven At Halong Bay

Heaven At Halong Bay

With VietStyle, we arrived at the bay and got onto our boat which would be our home for the next day and it was really nice, we had an en suite room with air-con, a lot more than I thought we would get. We set sail and our first stop was for a trip round ‘amazing cave’ which is actually the name they have given it and to be fair it was pretty amazing so I’ll let them off. After that we got back onto the boat and headed for Ti-Top island which was a tiny island where you could climb

My Halong Bay Tour

My Halong Bay Tour

We booked a three day two night trip to Ha Long Bay. It seems there really isn't anyway of doing this otherwise. We were lucky as of the 12 on the tour we knew most. Caroline and I obviously, Leigh from US, Joell and Stephen from Holland and Karen Goodfellow and Jill from UK. To add to our luck the other 5 were all really nice as well. I was a little apprehensive about the organized trip at first and may have been in a little grump about this. It wasn't the most traveler experience

Halong Bay – Paradise in the world

Halong Bay – Paradise in the world

Halong Bay is such a beautiful place, I've never seen anything like it before! There's over 2000 small islands there but they say they only have 1969 because that's the year that Ho Chi Minh died. The tour guide on the boat told us a few of the names - fighting cock, Kissing couple and big fish (the islands look like these things). We visited the Song Sut caves which was cool (check out the pictures) and did some "karaking" (kayaking- the tour guide's english was hard to understand!). We
